English Teachers in Ethiopia

Gibson Youth Academy seeks committed teachers from English speaking countries as the English Language teachers for a period of 10 months or longer.

Visit the school on the website. There is a short video there in the archives section.

The Gibson Youth Academy is a school system for children from Kindergarten to High School, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Gibson Youth Academy employs dedicated, efficient, and competent teachers who have a great interest in teaching. English teachers are professional teachers who are sought from English speaking countries to teach English grammar, writing, and English conversation to students as part of the regular school curriculum which includes: mathematics, science, social studies, art, physical education, handwriting, reading and spelling, music, French or Arabic, and other subjects too.

Gibson Youth Academy is a school that was founded by an American educator with the goal of giving Ethiopian children the very best education possible along with character development and an emphasis on creating strong work ethic, responsibility, and academic excellence among their students.

Also, there are a number of schools in Ethiopia, in particular in Addis Ababa and in Dire Dawa, who are in desparate need of English teachers, the teachers do not, in general, need to have formal teaching qualifications. They do need to be native speakers of English and have a genuine desire to help. This is a great opportunity for people who are interested in living in Ethiopia for a year (or more), but who would find it difficult financially to support themself while they are living abroad... payment for teaching duties would be worked-out with the individual school, but this often includes accomodation and a small wage that would cover living expenses. If you would like to find out more - email the website editor, and I will forward you contact information for people with further information.
